STOCKTON, CA - One person is dead and two injured after a shooting on southbound I-5 near the Mt. Diablo exit Tuesday afternoon.

The victims were in the same car when another car started shooting at them, Stockton police Lt. Joe Rocha said.

One of the victims was dropped off at the Stockton Police Department and then was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital in downtown; the two other victims drove themselves to St. Joseph's Hospital in central Stockton, police spokesperson Pete Smith said.

22-year-old Johhny E. Reaves died from gunshot wounds sustained in the incident. A 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man were injured in the shooting and their condition is stable at the hospital, Rocha said.

A car at St. Joseph's Hospital, which most likely belonged to the victims, had 10 bullets holes in it.

Rocha said it is unclear if the victims fired shots back.

There is no suspect description and it is unclear what lead up to the shooting.
