If you clicked on a website Wednesday and noticed it was acting strangely, don't call your internet provider or the GeekSquad. It's not your computer and you're not the only one experiencing these issues.
Many tech companies are "going dark" or shutting down their sites in protest of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and its sibling Protect IP Act (PIPA.)
Under SOPA, tech protesters say that sites with links, even if they were user-submitted, would be considered inoperable and liable for the government to take it down.

The objective of the black out is to bring the two bills into the public consciousness and offer a look at what life would be like they were to take effect.
